Install Quiltoku and play offline
Quiltoku is a web page that behaves like an app. There is nothing to download from a store. You can add it to your home screen, it opens full-screen, and once it has loaded it keeps working without a connection.
Adding it to your home screen
iPhone and iPad
- Open quiltoku.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
- Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Android
- Open quiltoku.com in Chrome (or another modern browser).
- Open the menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
Computer
In Chrome or Edge, look for the install icon at the right end of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install Quiltoku. It then opens in its own window.
Installing is optional. The game plays just the same in a browser tab.
Why install it?
- It opens full screen, with no browser bars, so the board has more room.
- It is one tap from your home screen, which makes it easy to keep a daily habit.
- Your progress is safer on iPhone and iPad. Safari can clear the saved data of a website that has not been opened for about a week. An app added to the home screen is treated more gently. For a certain backup either way, make a game code.
Playing offline
When you first open the game, your browser keeps a copy of it. After that you can play without any connection: on a plane, on the subway, in a cabin. The daily puzzle is made on your device from the date, so it does not need the internet either. Your progress is saved on your device as you play.
What needs a connection: loading the game for the very first time, the guides and other pages, and sending feedback.
How updates reach you
The game checks for a newer version whenever you come back to it, and every few hours while it is open. If there is one, a small bar appears offering to reload. It never interrupts a puzzle you are in the middle of: it waits until you are finished. If the network is slow or gone, you simply keep the copy you have.
That check only contacts Quiltoku's own address, and sends nothing about you. See the data guide for the details.
If something looks out of date
After an update, a normal reload gets the newest version. If something still looks wrong, close the app completely and open it again, or reload the page twice. Your progress is not affected.
