Your data, in plain language
Most of Quiltoku's privacy comes from one design decision: there are no accounts. This page explains what that means in practice, what does leave your device, and how it is looked after. The full legal text is on the privacy policy; this is the readable version.
What stays on your device
Your progress, your streak, your stars, your settings and your statistics are saved in your browser's local storage, on your own phone, tablet or computer. They are not sent to us. We cannot see them, and we could not recover them for you if you lost them. That is the trade: nothing for us to leak, and also nothing for us to restore. If you want a safety net, make a game code.
What we do not ask for
There is no sign-up, no login, no email address and no name. You can play every puzzle and every level without telling us anything. There are no passwords to forget or to have stolen.
What does reach us
- Technical information when the page loads. Like any website, the service that delivers it (Cloudflare) sees your IP address and browser type while it sends you the game, and uses that to deliver the site and to keep it safe from abuse.
- Messages you send. If you email us, including through the Send feedback button, we receive your email address and whatever you write. The button pre-fills the game version and screen size to help us fix problems; you can delete those lines before you send. Only the developer reads these messages, and they are deleted when we no longer need them.
- Advertising. The site is supported by ads from Google. When ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies. Quiltoku itself sets no cookies and has no analytics or tracking of its own. The policy explains the choices available, including the stricter rules that apply in Quebec, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
How it is protected
- The site is delivered over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- There is no database of players, so there is nothing of that kind to break into.
- The game runs on your device. Puzzles are made on your phone from the date or the level number, and are the same for everyone.
- One person runs the site, and only that person reads the mailbox.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you, and to withdraw a consent you gave. In practice the only such information is a message you sent. Write to the address on the contact page and you will get an answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can also go to Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If the game changes
If Quiltoku ever adds something that sends information off your device, it will be optional, it will say plainly what it sends, and the privacy policy will be updated before it is switched on. Nothing in this guide changes without the dated policy changing with it.
